A woman sustained serious injuries Sunday evening after being shot in the 800 block of Jefferson Avenue in Elgin.
At 6:27 p.m., Elgin police officers responded to a report of a shooting and located an adult female victim who had sustained a serious injury.
The victim was transported to an area hospital, and preliminary information indicates that this appears to be an isolated incident.
Detectives from the Major Investigations Division and Special Investigations Group are actively investigating the case; updates will be provided as they become available.
