Regional charity Big Hearts of Fox Valley has announced that they will once again be hosting their annual gift wrapping party on December 1st after taking a year off due to Covid. Because they have outgrown their current space, this year’s event will be held at the Royal Fox Country Club.
Over the course of just a few hours, volunteers will wrap thousands of donated gifts before they get taken to D303 for distribution to the families. With help from several local community sponsors, patrons will enjoy delicious food, a cash bar, DJ, 50/50 raffle, camaraderie, raffle baskets and visit with Santa! It’s fun for the entire family. For wrappers, this is a free event and is a great opportunity to show kids about the importance of giving back.
Big Hearts of Fox Valley is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization run solely by volunteers and relies on donations which can be made right on their website. With help from their executive committee, D303 staff and a generous, supportive community filled with such big hearts, they are able to assist hundreds of families living within St. Charles and portions of Wayne, Wasco, Elburn, West Chicago, South Elgin, Campton Hills, and unincorporated Kane County.
In 2020 they distributed $19,820 worth of gift cards to families in need at Christmas time and throughout the school year. They made it possible for 562 children to receive gifts under their Christmas tree. Each of their 232 families were given wrapping supplies, a family board game, and a $50 gift card to a local grocery store. They handed out 78 fully loaded hygiene kits, along with several supplemental kits for families with infants and feminine hygiene needs we’re distributed to families in need over the summer.
Big Hearts needs your help and is asking for donations of grocery store gift cards, family board games and items a teenager would enjoy. They love the idea of families enjoying time together away from electronics. This upcoming holiday season they are assisting 257 local families(638 children) who are experiencing a financial hardship.
Their goal is to send a family board game and a $50 grocery store gift card home to each family. Monetary donations are also needed to ensure that they can continue with each of their 4 programs including their Big Hearts Throughout the Year program. This program helps families in need with clothing and basic necessities during the school year.
Are you able to help Big Hearts with their mission, which is to make a difference in their own community by brightening the lives of local children affected by financial hardship at Christmas time and throughout the year?
