Kane County State’s Attorney Jamie Mosser has charged a 31 year-old Elgin man with multiple offenses, including 6 counts of first degree murder, relating to a double homicide committed last month in Elgin.
The man, who lives in the 900 block of Congdon Avenue in Elgin, has been charged with:
- First Degree Murder, Class M, 6 counts
- Attempted First Degree Murder, Class X, 1 count
- Home Invastion, Class X, 2 counts
- Unlawful Restraint, Class 4, 1 count
- Unauthorized Use of a Weapon by a Felon, Class 4, 1 count
Prosecutors allege that on the morning of October 25, the accused and other alleged offenders entered an apartment in the 200 block of Jackson Street in Elgin that had multiple occupants. One of the three individuals accused in this incident, which includes the 31 year-old Elgin man, allegedly opened fire on the occupants, mortally wounding two and injuring a third.

The accused appeared in bond court Wednesday, where his bond was set at $5 million with 10% to apply for bond.
The accused also appeared in court Friday for a motion to revoke his bond related to a previous case pending at the Kane County Judicial Center. That case was charged as Armed Violence.
