Sometimes being a good cop is just paying attention.
Such was the case at about 2am this morning in Naperville when an eagle-eyed police officer noticed a car with two different license plates in the 100 block of Fourth Avenue.
A quick check revealed that both license plates were stolen, and further investigation revealed that the car was stolen as well.
The investigation into the circumstances of the stolen vehicle continues, but in the meantime, the vehicle’s driver – a 40-year-old man from Naperville – was charged with possession of a controlled substance, being a fugitive from justice and possession of stolen license plates. The passenger – a 26-year-old female from Chicago – was also charged with felony possession of a controlled substance.
If any other lesson was learned from this incident, it is that (alleged) bad guys usually aren’t that smart.
