    Shots Fired in Elgin; 48th Incident This Year

    Elgin experienced its 48th incident of gunfire this year last night, according to the Elgin Police Department records.

    According to a press release, at approximately 7:51 p.m., Elgin police officers responded to the 800 block of St. Charles Street for a report of shots fired. Evidence of gunfire was located, no injuries or property damage has been reported at this time.

    The city is nearly on target to equal it’s all-time record for gunfire incidents of 64, which was set in 2016. As of last night, the city is on course to record between 62 and 63 such incidents in 2021.
