Police are searching for a red pick-up truck that was involved in what appears to be a traffic-related shooting on Randall Road in Elgin.

On Friday at approximately 11:58 a.m., Elgin police officers responded to Randall Road and Auto Mall Drive for a report of shots fired. The preliminary investigation revealed that a red pickup truck was traveling southbound on Randall Road when it stopped abruptly in the roadway, causing the victim vehicle behind it to slam to a halt.

Two subjects then exited the red pickup truck and a confrontation ensued. The victim left the area in his vehicle and heard gunfire behind him. Upon further investigation the victim vehicle was found to have damage, and evidence of shots fired was located. The driver of the victim vehicle was not injured in this incident.

This is the 45th reported gunfire in Elgin this year.

Detectives from the Major Investigations Division are investigating this incident and are attempting to locate the vehicle in the photo below which was last seen entering eastbound Interstate 90 (I-90) from southbound Randall Road.
