The Cook County medical examiner has identified a man killed in Sunday’s shooting in Naperville.

18-year-old Coreon Davis died late Wednesday morning at Loyola Medical Center in Maywood. from wounds suffered in the shooting.

A second man injured during the shooting has been released from hospital.

The Naperville Police Department announced Tuesday that they have a suspect in custody in connection with the Sunday shooting of two men in Naperville.

The statement indicated that the department continues to follow up on all leads and information.

The two men were shot Sunday afternoon in the 600 block of Amersale Drive in Naperville in what police describe as a likely “transaction” gone bad.

The suspect, now in custody, fled the scene.

On Sunday, August 29, 2021, at approximately 2:11 p.m., the Naperville Police Department responded to the 600 block of Amersale Drive to a report of shots fired. When officers arrived, there was no one on scene.

A short time later, the Aurora Police Department responded to the area of McCoy Drive and Vaughn Drive after receiving a 911 call from the victims of the shooting. There were two male victims that were located wounded and both were transported to area hospitals.

The initial investigation suggests that the parties agreed to meet at the location of the shooting to make a transaction and got into an altercation. The exact relationship of the offender and victims and the nature of the transaction remain under investigation.

If anyone has additional information regarding this investigation, they are encouraged to contact the Naperville Police Department at (630) 420-6665 and ask for the Investigations Division.
