Early this morning, a Deputy with the Kane County Sheriff’s Department arrested a 31 year-old Texas man in connection with an alleged armed robbery that took place in St. Charles around midnight the previous evening.
On Sunday, at approximately 12:00am, St. Charles police officers responded to the 0-99 Block of N. 3rd Street in St. Charles in response to a report that an armed robbery had taken place.
The victim of the alleged robbery, whose name has not been released, reported that a male subject had approached him as he sat on a landscape planter, and then displayed a knife and held it to his leg. According to the victim, the accused then forcefully took a gold necklace from the victim’s neck.
The victim sustained a small cut to his leg and the accused left the area after having been seen entering a white SUV, which then drove him out of the area.
A local dispatch was put out alerting area departments of the crime. At approximately 4:00am Monday morning, a Deputy with the Kane County Sheriff’s Department located the white SUV in unincorporated Kane County with the accused in the vehicle. The accused was identified as a 31 year-old male from Houston, Texas.
St. Charles Police subsequently obtained a search warrant for a local residence where the accused had been staying. Upon service of that warrant, items of evidence were recovered.
After conferring with the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office, the accused was ultimately charged with 1 count of Armed Robbery – Class X Felony.
