Chicago area motorcycle and bicycle enthusiasts get ready, because the Progressive International Motorcycle Shows, now branded IMS Outdoors, is coming for the first time ever to Goebbert’s Farm in Pingree Grove, as the second stop of the nine city outdoor series.
For four decades the show series has toured the country showcasing the latest in motorcycles and powersports. However, the pandemic accelerated a restructuring of the show in a way that allows for even greater interaction, increased display variety, and significantly different venues.
The 2021 IMS Outdoors series is more than just a motorcycle show without a roof – it’s an immersive experience that includes a host of electric bicycle options as well as new rider experiences, experienced rider demos on new motorcycles, and of course loads of vendors to showcase the latest in gear and accessories for enthusiasts.
A main attraction of the show initiates non-riders via a safe first experience on motorcycles. The Zero Motorcycles- sponsored “New Rider Course” features electric motorcycles that do not require shifting. In addition, they are programmed for a very soft acceleration and a limited top speed of under 12 miles per hour. This allows riders who have first shown their ability to balance on Yamaha Power Assist bicycles to then absorb some additional instructions and try a full size (albeit limited power) motorcycle. No license is required, and safety gear is included. All riders will need long pants and shoes that enclose your entire foot, however.
Additional e-bicycle companies are joining in this family show that features balance bikes for kids as young as three, e-cycle demos provided by Giant, Liv, Momentum, and FLX and even a chance to try your hand on a specially constructed stationary experience that mounts a full power Harley-Davidson motorcycle to a stable platform.
Given the population of riders in the Chicago area, the IMS Outdoors will be a welcome draw to the venue that will not only fill the course with displays and activities but will feature more advanced riding opportunities with the demo rides available to experienced drivers.
Electronic tickets and more information on all the action starting at noon on Friday, August 20th through 5pm Sunday, August 22nd is available at https://motorcycleshows.com/chicago.
