A 27 year-old Bartlett man riding a scooter near the intersection of Prospect Avenue and Wilcox Drive was struck by car Wednesday morning, suffering life-threatening injuries.

No information on the man’s status is available at time of publishing.

The accident followed by a day a fatal car crash in Bartlett involving four 16 year-olds.

On Wednesday, August 4, at approximately 10:55 a.m., Bartlett Police Department responded to the intersection of Prospect Avenue and Wilcox Drive to investigate an accident involving a motorized scooter. Bartlett Police alleged a 62-year-old male was driving a 2009 Dodge Challenger northbound on Prospect when he performed a U-turn, which caused the crash with a 2014 Cabo 125 scooter that was traveling southbound on Prospect Avenue.

The 27-year-old driver of the scooter suffered life-threatening injuries as a result of the crash and was transported to Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield, Illinois.

Prospect Avenue was closed between Amherst Drive and Country Drive for approximately three hours while Bartlett Police Department and DuPage County MERIT (Metropolitan Emergency Response & Investigation Team) investigated the motor vehicle crash. The cause of the crash is still under investigation. Anyone with information regarding this motor vehicle crash is asked to contact the Bartlett Police Department at (630) 837-0846.
