    Four St. Charles Residents Vie For Vacant 1st Ward Seat

    Four eligible St. Charles residents are in the running to serve the remaining two years left in the term for the 1st Ward Alderman seat. The office was vacated when former Alderman Dan Stellato resigned June 21, 2021.

    The candidates will be interviewed by the full City Council in an executive session July 26, 2021. The selected candidate will be nominated for City Council approval at a future City Council meeting.

    Candidates
    Richard Balla is a life-long resident of St. Charles and a resident of the 1st Ward since 1997. He is the Vice President of Accounting at Tour Edge Golf in Batavia, Ill.

    Zachary R. Ewoldt moved to St. Charles last year from Wheaton, Ill. He is a Gas System Analyst with Peoples Gas Company in Chicago. Ewoldt holds a Master’s Degree in Urban Planning and Policy from the University of Illinois-Chicago, Chicago, Ill., and a Bachelor Degree in Geography from University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, Whitewater, Wis.

    Thomas Galante is a resident of Ward 1 since 2012, and currently serves on the St. Charles Natural Resources Commission. He is a Pricing Manager at SunSource, Inc. Addison, Ill. He holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of Notre Dame, Notre Dame, Ind., and a Bachelor of Science Degree from Illinois State University, Normal, Ill.

    Don Kage grew up in St. Charles, and has lived in the 1st Ward for 12 years. He is an Auto Body Technician for Tesla, Inc., in Elk Grove Village, Ill.
