An Elgin woman was found dead in her home Monday evening after a child who apparently lived with her was found wandering 5 blocks away.
According to an Elgin Police Department report, at approximately 6:40 p.m. officers responded to the area of Lawrence Ave and North Aldine Street in Elgin for a report of a found child in the area. Through further investigation, it was determined that the child, who was unharmed, lived in the 300 block of Heine Ave.
Upon locating the child’s home, officers found another child, also unharmed, in the residence. Further investigation revealed a deceased adult woman inside the residence.
The identity of the female will not be released at this time and the cause and manner of death will be determined by the Kane County Coroner’s Office pending the results of an autopsy.
Detectives from the Major Investigations Division and Special Investigations Division have been actively investigating the case throughout the night and continue to investigate the incident and are currently working with the Streamwood Police Department. At this time it appears to be an isolated domestic related incident with no danger to the public.
