St. Charles Police and Fire Departments responded today to a vehicle crash that resulted in the death of one of the drivers.
At 12:33 PM units from St. Charles Police and Fire Departments responded to the report of a vehicle crash involving injuries. Initial callers indicated that they believed one person involved might be entrapped in their vehicle.
A preliminary investigation has shown that a semi-truck and trailer was stopped facing south in the outside lane of the 1500 Blk of S. Kirk Rd. waiting for the light at Division Street. A white Ford pickup truck was southbound on S. Kirk Rd. behind the semi-truck also in the outside lane of travel. The Ford truck did not stop and rear-ended the trailer of the semi.
The male driver of the Ford truck was transported to Delnor Hospital where he was later pronounced deceased. The driver of the semi-truck was treated by paramedics and released on scene.
The driver of the Ford is not being identified at this time pending family notification.
