Jake Arrieta is reviving memories of his glory days with the Cubs (7-9) with a strong start to the 2021 season.
On Tuesday, Arietta pitched 5 strong innings, giving up 1 run, to qualify for the win in a 3-1 Cubs victory over the visiting New York Mets at Wrigley.
The Cubs’ offense was anemic again, producing 3 runs but leaving 8 on base, including leaving the bases loaded in the 4th. One of their runs was unearned.
Mets starting pitcher Taijuan Walker took the loss for the Mets, who fell to 7-5.
The teams play at Wrigley again tonight.
