Tim Rater, President and Chief Executive Office of the Paramount Theatre in Aurora expressed cautious optimism about the prospects for re-opening this summer.
In a February open letter published on its website, Rater stated “We’ve been monitoring the pandemic and its effects on our reopening timelines. While it appears we’re moving in the right direction, there is still a lot of uncertainty as to when we’ll be allowed to open and under what conditions.”
Rater confirmed the theatre’s determination to proceed with it’s staging of 6-time Tony Award-winning musical “Kinky Boots.”
“The set is built, props are ready, costumes are underway, all so we can hit the ground running when state restrictions allow. Our 10th Anniversary Season will then begin with Rock of Ages. It is very possible the opening of Kinky Boots may need to be delayed a few weeks (current opening is planned June 30). If that happens, we’d delay the opening of our 10th season a bit as well.”
Rater reassured subscription-holders that there will be a 2021-2022 season.
“Please know, regardless of when we are allowed to reopen, if you renewed your subscription, your tickets are confirmed and we will be doing a 2021-22 Season.”
