Town House Books & Café is located at 105 N. 2nd Ave in St. Charles, just one block east of the river and one block north of North Ave. Town House Books has been the St. Charles community’s independent bookstore since 1974! Housed in a charming historic 1853 Greek Revival landmark that was once the home of St. Charles’ 2nd mayor, Town House Books is a page right out of St. Charles history! With books nestled into every nook & cranny there is a great selection on hand, but books can also be special ordered and brought in house usually within a couple of days. Responding to the challenges of 2020, an online shop was also created at Bookshop.org. An almost limitless selection of books can be purchased online and shipped directly to you! There is an easy link to get you there on the main page of www.townhousebooks.com
Town House Café is attached to the bookstore and has been serving homemade fare since 1996. Made from scratch soups, quiche, desserts, cookies & scones, gourmet sandwiches & fresh salads are available Monday through Saturday for curbside pickup from 11 am- 3 pm. Unfortunately, with the small scale of the dining room, hallways, and foyer, it is not possible to safely have any kind of indoor service. However, in addition to the regular menu, an expanded “Deli/Bakery” menu offers whole desserts, whole quiches, soup by the gallon, large format salads, sandwich platters as well as sliced meats & cheeses by the pound, chicken, tuna & egg salads by the pound, and salad dressings by the pint or quart.
