Downtown Wisconsin Dells has big holiday news to share. And when you think big, think flashy and sparkly! Prepare for a holiday light display like you’ve never seen before. In fact, it will be the only one of its kind in the Midwest. Introducing the Tree of Light.
The shimmer and shine come in the form of 30,000 lights wrapped around a silver maple just off the River Walk in downtown Wisconsin Dells. The majestic silver maple stands 55 feet tall and 40 feet wide. There will be hundreds of flashing lights and light spheres too. All the lights are LED, selected for their energy-saving quality. The tree is illuminated every night from dusk until 11 p.m. through mid-January and is an ideal seasonal stop with or without snow.
Look for a chorus line of evergreen Christmas trees along the Scenic Riverwalk, all decorated by iconic favorite Wisconsin Dells’ businesses. On weekends leading up to Christmas, expect visits from your favorite jolly man dressed all in red. Food and festive treats are available for purchase on-site.
No admittance fee. It’s all free. For more information, details and to view a full schedule of events, visit wisdells.com/treeoflight.
Keep an eye on the weather report because the first snowfall in “The Waterpark Capital of the World!®“ means more than riding down indoor waterslides. When snowfall finds its way to the area’s hilly, glacier-carved landscape, winter outdoor activities are abounding. Winter enthusiasts will find cross country skiing, snowshoeing, and fat-tire biking trails aplenty. Nearby state parks, including Devil’s Lake, Mirror Lake, and Rocky Arbor, offer more than 50 miles of well-kept trails.
Winter thrillseekers can find downhill skiing nearby at Cascade Mountain, where 36 trails of varying difficulty make for a memorable visit no matter the experience level. Don’t forget the snow tube hill with a snowy 900’ long chute perfect for the entire family. The area’s natural waterfalls offer an exhilarating ice climbing experience during winter as climbers take a stab at the frozen walls. Ziplining and horseback riding adventures also continue into the winter season and give travelers a refreshed perspective of the Dells, often covered by a blanket of snow.
