    1. Make Your Bed!

    2. Clean as You Cook

    I grew up in a kitchen where Dad cooked and left the mess for me to clean up every day. What a waste of time! Instead of him filling the sink and countertops with pots and pans, he could have quickly put them in the dishwasher as he prepared the meal. As a mom who knows her way around the kitchen, I can say that there are always lulls in cooking or a time where I am passing the dishwasher, and I can easily toss cookware in it! It saves time.


    3. Clear the Clutter Fast!

    Whenever you leave a room, see if there is even one thing that looks out of place. Please pick it up and put it where it belongs! Easy peasy! The tough part, getting the family on board to do the same. It’s well worth the ask!


    4. Sort the Mail

    On your way from the mailbox, sort the junk into one hand and the necessary into the other. Fun fact: 95% of my mail hits the recycle bin before I even open the door to the house. Place the important mail in a wall file or designated spot. I suggest either having a wall file for each person or having two files: FILE and PAY. I pay all of my bills automatically, but if that’s not for you, designate a day of the week and set the alarm on your phone to accomplish it when you know nothing is happening. For my household, it used to be Sunday at noon.


    5. Meal Plan

    Meal planning is NOT boring. Eating tacos four days per week, that is! I have tried different systems in the past 25 years. For years I had a binder with plastic sheet coverings where I’d house my recipes. Also, I had a monthly meal plan by season, as well as grocery lists in the binder. (This sounds crazy now that I see it in print LOL)! Winging it was the worst as I never had all the ingredients I needed. Finally, the digital age came into play, and I found recipe nirvana with PlanToEat.com. It is here that I load recipes we love, create a meal plan using a drag and drop feature, and it prints a grocery list out for me! Do I hear angels singing?
