Cyclone Cocktail Recipe

Cyclone is a cocktail that balances and harmonizes two spirits, while paying homage to a cocktail, [Paloma] with a historically ominous beginning.

The Paloma was thought to be created sometime in the 50’s.  However, some of the first sitings weren’t until the early 80’s in Guadalajara, Mexico, and went by the names, Fresca’s or Paloma’s. What we do know is, the Paloma is deliciously refreshing and consists of tequila grapefruit soda, lime and salt.

  • 1 oz (29.5 ml) Herradura Reposado
  • .5 oz (15 ml) Agave
  • .5 oz (15 ml) Grapefruit juice
  • .5 oz ( 15 ml) Belvedere Vodka
  • 3 eye drops of homemade OJ bitters

Add all ingredients to your tin, add ice and shake vigorously for 15 seconds. Fine strain over fresh ice and garnish with cilantro.

  • I started off working for non-profits, then teaching at charter schools in marginalized communities throughout Chicago, Oakland, CA and Portland, Oregon. My passion for learning, teaching and history is undeniable, but I was struggling financially, so I began moonlighting as a bartender just to make ends meet, and unexpectedly fell madly in love with every aspect of the bar business. For my squad and I, it is about so much more than making a great cocktail. It’s about memories, music, history and sharing those moments, ensuring you embrace the present, reflect on the past and securing a bright future.
