    Adler Planetarium Offers Free General Admission

    WHAT: Spend a day at one of Chicago’s top cultural institutions—the Adler Planetarium— for FREE! Illinois residents will receive free general admission with proof of residency on Dec. 1, 3-7, and 10.  Whether you are enjoying a rare free weekend at a Chicago museum or planning a fun weekday activity—take advantage of one of the free days offered by one of Chicago’s top cultural institutions and see why space is freaking awesome!

    WHEN: Saturday, Dec. 1, Monday, Dec. 3-Friday, Dec. 7, and Monday, Dec. 10

    HOURS: 9:30 am-4:00 pm 

    WHAT ELSE: On Saturday, Dec. 1 from 1:00-3:00 pm, the Adler will host the first installment of Adler Book Club in our Johnson Family Star Theater. Join Adler astronomers Mark Hammergren, Mark SubbaRao, and Maria Weber as they talk with local authors Sue Burke (Semiosis), Michael Moreci (Black Star Renegades), and Lori Rader-Day (Under a Dark Sky) about their new novels and the inspiration they drew from the stars. Author and astronomer Q&A and book signings will wrap the event. Pick up one (or three) of these books and join the discussion. Copies of our Adler Book Club books are available at the Adler Store!

    PRICES: FREE general admission with identification and/or proof of residency on aforementioned days. Guests who qualify for free general admission may upgrade to an All Access Pass, which includes access to our sky shows, at a discounted price: $17.95 for adults; $16.95 for children. The Adler Book Club event is free with paid admission.
