Local Family wins People’s Choice for House Decorations Two Years in a Row

For the past four years, the Batavia Park District has challenged residents to channel their inner Clark Griswold and show off their holiday spirit by participating in the annual Holiday House Decorating Contest.

The contest is open to all Batavia Park District residents. Prizes are awarded in four categories: Most Original, Best Theme, Best Use of Lights and People’s Choice. Displays are judged the first Wednesday in December, between 6:00 and 9:00 p.m. by Park District staff.

The People’s Choice category is conducted online through the District Facebook page, December 7 through 14. The entry with the most likes by midnight on December 14 wins People’s Choice! Congratulations to the Foy residence, of 969 Ekman Street, for winning Best Use of Lights and People’s Choice, with 180 likes. This is the second year in a row that the Foy family has won in both of these categories.

“We are so honored to win for the second year in a row. We really enjoy putting up the decorations each year, but we also love driving around and seeing everyone else’s decorations,” said Brett Foy.

The Mueller family, of 1200 Schiedler Driver, won for Most Original and the Carrara residence, of 310 Ellen Lane, won for Best Theme. A huge thank you to the other participants of 310 Lathem Street, 1649 Derby Drive, 585 Carriage Drive, and 661 Thorsen Drive.

Each of the winners received a Park District prize pack. For more information, please call 630-879-5235 or visit www.bataviaparks.org.
