New Menu Item Tastings at Longhorn Steakhouse

I was recently invited for two new menu items at Longhorn Steakhouse and admittingly I had some bias as my expectations were not very high due to my poor experiences at Lone Star Steakhouse and other similar restaurants.

 

After arriving for our first visit, we were pleasantly surprised by the ambience and décor. It was relatively quiet with nice table and booths which were more than half full with diners even though it was 3:00 pm on a Sunday afternoon. Definitely a good sign.

Our second visit again was also on a Sunday afternoon.

Both times we had Diane as our waitress who was very attentive and timely with our food including the bread, salads, appetizers and drinks.

Below are the new menu items that we sampled.  All were good but our favorites were Flo’s Filet, a tender center cut filet mignon with grill seasonings and is one of the most tender steaks I have ever had and the strawberry pecan salad which had complimenting contrasting flavors of fresh fruit, mixed field greens, feta cheese and raspberry vinaigrette dressing.

Bottom line, food was very good rivaling other restaurants that charge twice the price and I’ve eaten at upscale steakhouses all over the United States including New York, Chicago, Las Vegas and San Francisco.

So, if you haven’t dined at Longhorn Steakhouse yet. Go!

Crab Cake Filet: Tender, center-cut filet topped with a baked lump crab cake and lump crab meat, finished with a lemon-garlic cream sauce.

Flo’s Filet and Citrus Grilled Lobster Tail: Tender, center-cut filet paired with a fire-grilled cold-water lobster tail drizzled with citrus butter.

Nashville Hot Chicken: Fresh chicken breasts hand-breaded and fried to order, finished with a housemade sweet and spicy honey sauce and topped with pickles.

Outlaw Ribeye:  18 oz. Well-marbled and tender, bone-in cut, grilled over an open flame for a rich, juicy flavor. 

Grilled Lamb Chops: Marinated bone-in lamb chops grilled over an open flame and finished with a roasted tomato garlic-herb sauce.

Pork Porterhouse: A juicy, 12 oz. bone-in pork porterhouse grilled over an open flame and topped with garlic-herb butter.

El Dorado Chicken: Fresh grilled chicken breasts topped with housemade pico de gallo – charred sweet corn, diced tomatoes, jalapeno and lime.

Strawberry Pecan Salad: Fresh, mixed field greens with strawberries, grapes, mandarin oranges, candied pecans, red onions, feta cheese and raspberry vinaigrette.

Strawberries and Cream Shortcake: Layers of shortcake, vanilla, cream and strawberry jam with white chocolate shavings and fresh strawberries.
