City of St. Charles Bake Sale and Raffle at City Hall Oct. 28 to Benefit CASA Kane County

Part of City’s Efforts to Support “CASAtober”

City of St. Charles employees are holding a bake sale and raffle Oct. 28 in the lobby of the Municipal Building, 2 E. Main Street, to benefit CASA Kane County, a nonprofit, volunteer organization that advocates for the best interests of abused and neglected children within the Juvenile Court system.

Treats baked by City employees will be available for sale in the reception area from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Raffle tickets for the chance to win some amazing prizes from local businesses also will be available for $3 each.

It’s all part of the special CASAtober initiative in October. CASAtober is part of CASA Kane County’s “Partnerships with a Purpose” program where companies, organizations or individuals hold an event to benefit CASA’s child advocacy program. “It is not just about the dollars raised for our organization, but it is also about creating awareness about the children we serve”, said Lori Hewitt, Director of Development.

In addition to the bake sale and raffle, the City’s internal weekly “Jeans Fridays,” where employees dress in jeans if they donate $6 for a named charity, will benefit CASA Kane County. And, donation boxes have been placed at City buildings (Municipal Building, 2 E. Main Street; Police Department, 211 North Riverside Ave.; and Public Works, 304 S. 7th Ave.). The City’s goal is to raise $1,000 in donations.

Since 1988, CASA Kane County has been advocating for children who are in court due to abuse and neglect. In 2014, the program’s 281 volunteers served 587 children throughout Kane County. Please join us in supporting CASA Kane County and the children they serve. To learn more about CASA Kane County, please visit www.casakanecounty.org.
