Elgin’s Art & Soul on the Fox brings arts and entertainment to the downtown area

Elgin’s downtown area will be transformed into an Arts and Entertainment destination during the 8th annual Art & Soul on the Fox on Saturday, August 6 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Sunday, August 7, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Hosted by the City of Elgin and Art for All, the event features over 75 artists, with booths lining Grove Avenue and Spring Street, as well as inside the Elgin Artspace Gallery located at 51 S. Spring Street.

“Each year I am amazed by the talent of the artists and artisans that are accepted to the show and this year is no different!” states Karen Castillo, Art for All President and co-chair of the event. “Some of our favorite artists from past years will be selling their works in addition to many who are new to Art and Soul on the Fox. Our artists and artisans represent not only the greater Elgin area, but many will have traveled a long distance to participate. Unlike some fine art shows, Art & Soul on the Fox presents a balanced show rather than having an overabundance of works in one or two mediums. There will truly be something for everyone.”

As in the past, a variety of musical entertainment will take place on the main stage located on DuPage Court. There will be a children’s art area each day from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., featuring face painting, several crafts and roving entertainers to delight the young and the young at heart.

Art & Soul on the Fox will take place, rain or shine. Both Grove and Spring Streets will be closed from Chicago Street to Fulton Avenue beginning at 5:00 p.m. on Friday night. Ample free parking is available in the downtown area in public parking decks and open lots, which can be found at cityofelgin.org/parking.

Attendees are encouraged to support local downtown businesses during the event by enjoying a meal, a delicious beverage, or a tasty snack. Many of the local eating spots are staples in the area, while others are new. Information about the downtown restaurants and more will available at the Information Booth inside Elgin Artspace Lofts.
