Elgin High Clumsy Chefs group hits Top 10 in US

The Elgin High School Clumsy Chefs placed 10th at the National ProStart Invitational Competition earlier this month in Baltimore.

The Clumsy Chefs had been invited to compete against teams from 38 other states after winning first place at the Illinois Restaurant Association ProStart Competition in February, according to Elgin School District U46.

Students in the management competition create a restaurant concept from scratch. That includes a restaurant name, logo, décor, marketing tactics, menus and food costs for the management competition, U46 said.

“The students were amazing. It’s a great accomplishment and I’m so proud,” Elgin High School teacher Ann Leider said in a written statement.

The Elgin High School team included Colin Flanagan, Tyra Kemper, Ethan Magsombol and Travis Paquin.
