A Batavia couple plans to bring a taste of Italy to North River Street next year.

Andrea and Tora Chiappelli in February plan to open an Italian gelato cafe, O’Sole Mio, at 27 N. River St. in the building that formerly housed the offices of U.S. Congressman Bill Foster. Antonio Natale of Carol Stream also is a partner in the business.

“It’s been a huge part of the culture out there,” Tora Chiappelli said. “We wanted to introduce the real thing to this country.”

Her husband, Andrea Chiappelli, is from Italy. The couple received training from Carpigiani Gelato University in Italy.
