Wok'n Fire serves abundance of Pan-Asian dishes.

Grilled filet mignon topped with a spicy sweet and sour mango, red pepper, onion and mushroom sauce, and pan-seared miso glazed Chilean sea bass served with sesame rice are two of the reasons why there is a line of people waiting on Friday and Saturday nights to get into Wok'n Fire -- a new Pan-Asian restaurant in the heart of downtown St. Charles.

Both the spicy Hong Kong steak ($22.95) and the Chilean sea bass ($18.95) are hot sellers from a menu brimming over with contemporary cuisine from Malaysia, Thailand, Korea, Vietnam, Japan and China. And the décor is pretty hot too.

From the giant gold Buddha at the front entrance, to the drop cone lighting in the dining room spinning from one LED cool color tone to another, to an extraordinarily large abacus separating the dining room from the bar also lit with LED lights, the atmosphere is exotic and exciting. And there is nothing else like it around.

General manager Brian Donofrio says that the cool interior has been one of the most common comments from customers. People are in love with the décor and lighting. And the reception of the restaurant has been enthusiastic.

"It has been word-of-mouth," says Donofrio. "A lot of customers truly want to see us succeed because they love having us here."

The St. Charles location is the third Wok'n Fire started by Siri Lanpouthakoun. The Thai native founded the first restaurant in Elmhurst eight years ago, and then opened a second location in Addison with Mark Bartlett. Together they picked St. Charles for their largest location because of the space available in the new downtown development and because the area has nothing similar.
