Jersey Mike's offers East Coast-style sandwiches
Classic, original subs like a Philly cheese steak are the specialty at Jersey Mike's Subs.
The Aurora sandwich shop, which opened in December, offers traditional sub sandwiches in a tradition that dates back to the 1950s, said Steve Cozzi, the director of operations.
"Our subs are classic, original, East Coast subs," Cozzi said. "They're East Coast, Jersey shore sandwiches."
Cozzi said Jersey Mike's uses the original sandwich recipes from the 1950s. The first Jersey Mike's opened in 1956 on the Jersey shore. Today, franchises are located throughout the country.
The menu includes both cold and hot sandwiches. Cold sub options include the Jersey Shore Favorite, with ham, cappacuolo and provolone; the American Classic, which is ham and provolone; and the Super Sub, which is ham, cappacuolo, prosciuttini and provolone. Cozzi also spoke highly of the roast beef sandwich.
