St. Charles History Museum Seeks Volunteers During 2018 January Shutdown

From January 9 through February 1, the St. Charles History Museum will be closed for regular maintenance of its collection and facilities.

Museum staff is seeking volunteers that are sixth grade and older, with supervising adult, as well as other interested adult volunteers, to assist these efforts.

Shifts will begin Tuesday, January 9 through Thursday, February 1, during the Museum’s regular hours: 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Two-hour minimum shifts are requested.

This regular maintenance is a big part of ensuring that we are able to tell the most accurate and interesting stories about St. Charles history and be able to present the museum the best we can to the public. Sign up to help move all of our textiles out of storage to be sorted and rehoused. We will also be deep cleaning and organize all spaces in the museum including the exhibit hall, museum’s gift shop, The Curious Fox, and all public spaces.

“Volunteers are an essential part of the Museum’s commitment to preserving and exhibiting St. Charles’ rich history and have been integral to the museum’s success,” stated Executive Director Alison Costanzo.

Earlier this year, the Museum welcomed over 100 volunteers during the 2017 January Shutdown. Volunteers from several local groups painted the Museum facilities, inventoried the Museum’s artifact collection and performed other general maintenance.

Interested volunteers for the 2018 January Shutdown are encouraged to contact museum staff at 630-584-6967 or visit stcmuseum.org.
