Side Street Studio Arts (SSSA), 15 Ziegler Ct. in the heart of downtown Elgin, announces its annual celebration of all things St. Valentine’s Day.

Kicking off this Friday, February 10 with the opening of the visual art exhibition Love is Love, a visual art pop-up exhibition featuring a variety of works from artists from all over the region, including Jamey Bouwmeester, David Bremer, Amelia DePrez, Jane Erlandson, Erin Grupp, Lance Long, Mary F. McHugh, Sarah Manata, Chris Palm, Jason West, and more. The exhibition will be on display in the gallery for three days only February 10 through  February 12, with open gallery hours Friday noon to 6pm, Saturday 10am to 6pm, and Sunday 11am to 3pm.

For the third year, SSSA will present BACKWARDS BROADWAY, a role reversal musical revue featuring area performing artists, including Bouwmeester, David Boyle, Julie Bradon, Katherine Dalin, Joe Gibble-Keenan, Rachel Elizabeth Maley, and Valerie Meachum, and is directed by SSSA Director Amanda Harris. The two-night run is in support of Youth Outlook, the only agency in the DuPage, Kane, and DeKalb counties of Illinois dedicated solely to serving LGBTQ youth. Performances will be held Friday, February 10 and Saturday February 11 at 8pm. Reservations are recommend. Suggested donation tickets are $12 and available at sidestreetstudioarts.org and at the door.

SSSA was founded by Tanner Melvin and Erin Rehberg in 2013 as an outlet for the Elgin arts scene. Currently under the direction of Harris, Roberto Martinez, Melvin, and Rehberg, Side Street provides educational and creative resources and an accessible space, run by artists. Side Street’s mission is to support the artist and artistic journey through collaboration.
