Mayor Jeff Schielke hopes to be back in his office at the Batavia Government Center by the end of the week after receiving outpatient surgery Monday for a hernia in his navel.
“I’m moving pretty slow, and I’m sore at the moment,” Schielke said Wednesday.
After the surgery, Schielke, 62, was ordered not to drive for four days.
“I can’t pick anything up for 12 weeks,” Schielke said.
In a rare occurrence, Schielke had to miss Monday’s city council meeting. Schielke said he couldn’t remember the last time he missed a city council meeting.
