Residents advised on water after St. Charles main break

Residents who are still experiencing rusty water after a water main break Saturday are being advised to run their tap water for a few minutes.

“That will allow the rust to come out of the water,” St. Charles assistant public works director Richard Gallas said.

A water main on North Riverside Avenue adjacent to fire station one broke at about 2:30 a.m. Saturday. The main was fixed, and service was back on by 11:30 a.m. The main serves the fire station and the St. Charles Municipal Center.

“About 50 customers total were affected,” Gallas said.
