The Will County High Department is moving forward with a plan to extend 95th Street in Naperville over the DuPage River to Boughton Road in Bolingbrook.

A public meeting was held this week at which project engineers presented their plans to construct a new bridge across the DuPage River Valley, widen Kings Road in Bolingbrook to four lanes and add turn lanes at the intersections of Boughton Road and Plainfield-Naperville road.

Engineer Jeff Ronaldson said that when completed, the project will reduce travel time by 1.1 miles from the intersection of Boughton and Kings Roads in Bolingbrook to 95th Street and Plainfield-Naperville Road in Naperville.

The project will also provide a tunnel under 95th Street for the DuPage River Trail and include a bikeway.

Construction is expected to begin next summer and continue into 2013, according to a presentation about the project released by the highway department.
